Welcome to the CMW Chorus Page!

Overview of our programs:

Men's Chorus and Women's Chorus: These choirs are non-auditioned and are comprised of students from all grade levels including freshmen who are transitioning into the high school choral program. They study a variety of musical genres and perform both independently as well as combined with other choirs at the Winter Concert in December and the Spring Concert in May.

Advanced Chorus: This choir is a highly competitive group that aims to feature the most talented singers of C. Milton Wright’s choral program. Admission is only through an audition process that examines individual singing ability as well as sight-singing and rhythm performance. This group performs more frequently within the community and travels to the HCPS County Assessments as well as the Maryland State Choir Festival.

The C. Miltones: This after school a cappella group meets once a week. Admission into this group is through audition only. The group performs within the community and at scheduled concerts throughout the year.

Meet our director:

Jay Karolenko is beginning his seventh year of teaching and his second year as the choral director at C. Milton Wright High School. Prior to coming to C. Milton Wright, he spent five years as the choral director at Kenwood High School in Baltimore County and made school history by taking them to States three out of the last four years. Mr. Karolenko is a multi-instrumentalist who has studied piano since the age of four under teachers from the Peabody Institute and Towson University, where he received his Bachelors of Science in Music Education. In addition to instructing the choirs of C. Milton Wright, he is also the vocal director for the winter musical, teaches piano lab and music technology, and directs the school’s a capella group. Mr. Karolenko enjoys arranging/composing, DJ-ing, and playing indoor soccer.
